Turning Adversarial AI into an Ally for Cyber Resilience

On Thursday 25 September, our Chief Technology Officer, Sean Gilmour will deliver a presentation - Adversarial AI: Red Teaming with Psychopathy-Inspired Language Models at the NI Cyber Breakfast Club in the Belfast Met.
He will present on how advanced AI can be adapted by malicious actors to launch highly effective cyberattacks—and, crucially, how understanding these methods allows us to build better protection. By openly sharing our experience and expertise, he aims to raise awareness of these evolving threats and support the cyber community in developing stronger safeguards.
Sean Gilmour said, "At ARC Regulatory, we are more than a cutting-edge pharma regulatory consultancy with a wet lab supporting drug trials—we are also investing heavily in advanced AI engineering. Our AI capabilities not only help solve complex problems in the pharmaceutical sector but also strengthen one of the most critical areas facing every large enterprise today: cyber security.
"As AI adversaries become more sophisticated, protecting sensitive data and research pipelines in pharma demands equally advanced defences. To stay ahead, we are building AI-driven methods to enhance our internal security posture and anticipate future threats.
"A key part of this effort involves red teaming—simulated cyberattacks designed to test how resilient organisations are under real-world conditions. The more realistic these simulations, the stronger the resulting defences. At ARC, we believe that cutting-edge AI should power these red team exercises, ensuring they reflect the tactics and speed of potential adversaries."
True to its collaborative ethos, ARC is committed to sharing its findings responsibly and at no charge with verified cyber security partners. In doing so, it not only helps protect its pharma clients, but also contributes to a safer, more resilient digital environment for the entire industry.
